My 300 Utility with wide front axle has 4 tie rod ends with wear,2 of which are nearly falling apart. They appear to be the size that a car would use.Has anyone substituted auto parts for these and if so,what kind of car/truck were they off of? They appear to be 4" long to the center of the joint end,and the nut size looks like 1/2".

I am going through the same thing with my 340 Utility. I found matching replacements for the front tie rod ends, (old ones were totally loose and worn out) at NAPA last week. I paid approx $30 each for them, complete with rubber boot and grease fitting. (Case wanted $60 each for them)NAPA's catalog has several pages of tables of tie rod ends. I had to match up thread sizes, shaft length, insertion length, etc. They made me a copy of the pages which I took home and measured and matched up to the old ones. The new ones look exactly the same.

The rear ones, because of the angle, I could not match up. Case wants $100 each for them. However fortunately mine were tight, due to the dried out lubrication, and not worn and loose. I don't think the rears get as much action as the fronts. I drilled and tapped them for zerk fittings - turns out they're oil impregnated fiber filled, and not grease filled. I'm going to try and force some heavy weight oil in there, and put them back on.

Hope this helps.

I just rebuild the steering on my 350U, using a TRW ES439L ($9.99) for the front a match and a TRW ES409R ($12.99) on the pitman arm, it is longer so you will need to shorten the tub 2.5 inches. With the money you're saving go buy a 11/16 x 18 thread tap, cut off the end, add more threads, re-slot and taper. Good Luck,

I got mine at (OEM tractor parts) rear #365853R91 $16.50,front #363160R91 $13.65 this was in 2002 so the price may be a little higher I used these on a 350 & 330 but your 300 should be the same the part #s were not what my parts book called for but they fit perfect. They also had the rubber grease boots but I canot find the bill for them I think they where around 3.00 each.

I'm in the same boat. I found the tie rod ends from a dealer. $104 for one of the rears and $60 for one of the fronts. $320 for tie rod ends gimme a break, I checked with napa no luck yet. Now I'm thinking of trying to make my own, If I can find the right size tie end and just use black pipe for the arms with the right size nuts welded on the ends to thread them in. The only problem is that the rears have a slight bend in them. Oh well

My rears seem straight,so maybe they replaced them on the cheap (?).I have access to chassis parts sizing catalogs...if I find something out I will post it here.Didnt know if somebody else had been there...done that already....
