The noise happens in nuetral when clutch is engaged. its not in the egine fresh overhaul. if that gear has a tooth missing where could i pick up a new gear. dealer cant get them anymore.

If you want to look at the gears. Just pull the belt pulley unit.
You can see all the tranny gears in the opening.
thats how I found the chipped gears on my 400. Same trans as a SM.
I am also susspecting the bearing on the end of the input shaft. I could see that one knocking around if out.

Any chance it's the belly pump? You can take the coupling out and see if the sound stops.
