Need to know the correct way to check and top off the fluid levels in the trans and rear end. I see a fill hole on top of shifter plate. Does this fill both 0f them? Dont know how to tell if it is topped off. On most equipment their is an over fill plug. Cant find one here. The service manual I have shows nothing about this. Also kind of fluid to add. Thanks for any help

The left side of the tractor, beside the brake rod is a small pipe plug. This is the fill level, and it is low on the housing.

Transmission and rear end are filled at the same point, though there are two drain points.

If you have a belt pulley on the back, you should also fill it. Fill it first as I believe the excess drains into the gear box.

80w90 or 140w gear grease will work fine. Some recommend Hy-Tran but it leaks easier and you might get more gear noise. Gear grease was originally resommended and they recommended Hy-Tran in later years. The gear grease available today is better than what was available when they sepcified it originally.

That hole in the top fills the trans, differential and PTO. The level plug is on the left side of the transmission, behind the brake rod, if I remember correctly. It's not real easy to spot if you have a buildup of grease and grime.

This won't fill your final drives, though. The fill plug for those is on the inboard side of the final drive casting an inch or so above the pan gasket. There is no final drive drain plug, you need to drop the pans to drain them.
