Could it be an international(wheatland) model. I recall a fella from the Red Power forum finding #501 1206 wheatland. Are they numbered differently?

If the tractor has 3 different selling prices on it, I bet its a parts tractor or something thats made (or being made) up. A true prototype would not be piece priced as it would kill any/all of its authenticity.

Here again a photo of the tag and the tractor would be nice.

Does the seller work at shyster implement??

is there anything odd about the tractor that might indicate a prototype? Whats the engine serial no.? What brand Turbo does it have? Do you have any pictures? Would love to see them.Where are you located?

Charles,The first Serial no. 7501 farmall sold from the original owner in IA. a few years back and is rumored to be in Mo. and number 7502 is located in IA also and has been identified.7506 I believe went overseas last year to a collector. Are you sure about the number and locations of those 1206's as this is the first I have heard of it and I follow these stories very closely.Do you have pictures also?Do you know this first hand or someone told you? Not trying to say you are wrong, but just the first I have heard of anything under 7501,and has got my curiosity up.I would like to verify some of these findings, such as museum phone number to talk to the curator,ect.... Thanks Kristin Gall

kristin, we found this tractor in central illinois. looking for rearend parts for dad's 1206, serial number 9997. only thing left on the tractor is frame rails back. no front end. no engine. serial tag looks authentic. has plate over pto area. we were going to buy it then check on serial number. gentleman wanted 3000 grand for the rear end. told him to keep it. he said kinze from central iowa was interested in it.too bad this gentleman may ruin a piece of ih history!!!

Thanks for the reply. He apparently knows what he has and especially if Kinze is looking at it. If so, hopefully Kinze will buy it and restore it then.at least it will fall into the hands of a rebuilder instead of a scrap yard if you couldnt buy it. did the man know what happend to the engine? If this is true, this will open up a whole new history on these tractors! email me your name and location phone number ect..with your tractors condition ect.. so I can put your serial no. on our 1206 serial no. registry. Might write down the 511 number too as it is deffinately a oddity. mgall@cvalley.net thanks, Kristin

I was reading these forums and saw your website not knowing whether you are still tracking 1206 tractors. I thought I would give it a try. I bought a 1206 Farmall in NE Okla and the model # is F1206D and the serial # is 10215 S-Y. I was wondering what year this tractor is, I think it's a 1966 but not sure. I also was wondering what the S-Y means that is stamped on the serial # plate after the serial #. I do know this tractor originally came from around Caney KS.

Thanks, Luke Long sodbuster0844@yahoo.com

Serial No. 501 was the first 1206. It went to a museum. Possibly the IH museum. Serial No. 502 went to the Nebraska Tests for Farm Tractors. When finished it was purchased by one of the IH engineers and it still used on a livestock and grain farm on Illinois some 50 miles south of Chicago.
