O.K. call me crazy. If I push out the piston sleeves on my M, I have a bore of 4 1/8". Why can't I shove a 4 1/8" piston in there without a sleeve and have the cubic inches a 450 has ?? Seems to me other than maybe some honing the bore has to be as straight as the sleeve. How foolish a thought is this ?? Is the block not hard enough ??

you can just hone the block, and it is 4-1/8 all ready. use the 450 head gasket. Only problem is the small pinned pistons, onthe big M rod. Make a brass bushing to adapt the wrist pins to the rods,, I make them, so its not hard to do. ChadS

When I put an aftermarket 4-1/8" overbore piston and sleeve kit in my Super M, it already had the larger piston pins. Fit right on the SM rods, but the IH P&S set that a prev owner had installed did use the extra bushings.
