I'm needing to rebuild the engine on my 53 super A. After she warms up, oil psi goes to near 0. My biggest question is, how much can I expect to spend on all the parts, plus some machine work. You know, head, and maybe crank. I realize it's kinda vague question, but I appreciate any ball park responses.

sounds like just the oil pump is plugged up and failing, if the engine runs very good with plenty of power and doesn't smoke, I wouldn't rebuild the whole thing. Engine kits are also availible off this site. Maybe just a new oil pump, or possibly just cleaning the sludge out of the old oil pump will be all it needs.
Hope this helps!

Hi Jonboy This is a smoker too, I forgot to add. It's in need of a rebuild, I've made peace with the idea, it's just getting it done now.

Valu bilt and other places sell kits. Look at their web site, you will get an idea of cost. Won't cost much if all you do is the pistons and sleeves, plus a head job by a machine shop. It goes up from there.

CNKS, I'm wanting to replace everything. I know the bearings are shot, and I'm gonna keep the ole gal forever and ever.
Thanks

I spent $2300 on parts to rebuild the motor on my H. The head was cracked, and I am not a huge fan of aftermarket parts.
