Hi guys I have a few things that I would like to get rid of that I really dont want to put on ebay. Do any of you ever look at the classifieds? How often? Would you buy something you did or didn't need from there if the price was right. Small Items JON

I look at the classifieds on occasion. I look at the photo adds nearly every day.

I buy stuff fairly often from the cassifieds.
I also sell stuff now and then. What gets me are the jerks that can't make up their minds. I love when 5 calls later I can tell them that they are too late. Heck I will tell them something is gone because they are annoying. Sometimes I wonder if they aren't kids messing around. I price stuff fairly and if they don't want it tell me why and I will take it back if they aren't wack jobs about it. All in all though the Callified ads are good. The auction site is bad news though. LOts of dead beats there.

ED: The auction never will be any good until YT management does away with reserve and starting bids. Most good auctioneers will stop the bidding if bids are unreasonably low for a particular item. YT could reserve that right. Other than that it would be sale to the highest bidder.

The only reason most of these guys are using auction, is they are treating it like a classified, and have the benefit of it staying on first page for 2 weeks. Until YT change the rules it will never improve.

I have sold a couple items and bought a few using the classifieds here. I view the ads regularly. I feel comfortable using this site even though the occasional dirtbag does operate here. Just gotta feel them out as best you can.

I"ve tried the classifieds, and haven"t had any luck selling, but my dad and grandfather both have.
The exception: I posted a want add, and got a heck of a deal on the part. I usually don"t have any luck with those either. I go for bargins.
You all have probably seen my B in the photo ads. I get lots of interest, but can get anyone to seal the deal. I bet I"ve had 6 guys in love with it, and can"t live without it. I looked at them regularly in the summer, school takes up too much time now.
I have bought some good parts on ebay. I"m only 17, and have to use Mom"s account, so it"s somewhat a pain. Would like to sell, but underaged, no credit card, and don"t know what it would cost me.
I by things I need from classifieds, photos, or ebay. If I want it, Wal-Mart usually has it.

I check the classified ads regularly. I seldom purchase anything sold in the classified ads. I only purchase items that I can personally check out or from a reputable known source.

i read the classified ads daily.
i have recently bought a set of wheels from the cowman, and sold two parts to fellows who listed in the classified ads wanting to buy.
the photo ads are nice also!

MagMan: I have dabbled around a bit both selling and buying on YT classifieds, Photo add and auction. What I have found both as buyer and seller is distance kills these small items. Price of shipping small items has gone through the roof.

Then if you happen to have the added problem of crossing an international border, dealing with customs, brokers, etc. can almost double the cost. Yes even triple the cost. I sent an item from Canada to Holland for example. What I actually received was less than 1/3 of the total. Bought a few books in the US, vendor put a value of a dollar on them, cured the border woes, but had we wanted to insure them, it would have meant $1.00 value.

I've come to the conclusion, unless someone less than 2 hours drive away wants the small item you have for sale, you may as well send it to the scrap yard. I wish I had a better answer, as it is a shame to see this happen.

Probably look at Classified more than photo. Watch for something I can use.

Have bought some and sold quite a few things in the classifieds. Good place to post wanted ads.

Had one guy buy a farmall Mud scraper from me about 10 minutes after I posted it

I check it daily if possible. I have bought much on it. If the price is good enough and I think I can use it someday, I buy it. I have traveled up to two states away to pick up large parts or tractors I have bought through YT mag.

If I were selling though, I would use eBay. Seems like you get the best money there.

I never look at the classifieds but have sold tractors there, no small stuff. Yes, I buy stuff I don't need all the time but don't keep it very long! Send me a email jon, I post slow moving stuff on my website and might be able to help you out. Guys are always asking for things I do not have.

Jon:

I"ve tried selling stuff thru the classifieds here before with little success (maybe i was asking too much lol) Anyhow, being the Scottish boy that I am, i"m too cheap to buy much unless i can"t live without it.

Jeff

Interesting. I advertised a japanese alternator which I thought would be a desirable item, but got no reply. I did make a carburator trade on the classifieds. I would look there before going to ebay.

I've both bought and sold on photo and classifeds. Probably 25 items over the past 5 years. Had one stinker in the deal - the guy really thought that a rusted out seat assembly was worth $ 100! When I balked he just said keep it - I threw it away. But all other items were as specified or better! Great results with wanted ads for odd ball items. I also have driven thre states to pick up a jewel. From my experience virtually all on the site are super people. My nickel Dick Davis
