Would this be a Farmall or International U2? Ser.#UAA3438Z26A, Block casting date 1/24/L(1942).what year was the U series started? Where would I find info. on ser,#'s paint, decals, emblems etc? for this application. My plans are to restore this engine, my research finds little info. on the U series. Any info. would be of great help. Many thanks.

'U' engine series- call it 'Utility' just to keep it seperate from tractors. powerplant engine for combines or other needs-waterpumps, sawmill, whatever. U2 would be about the same as tractor A, B engine of the time- 113 cubic inch. U4 was basic H, U6 was basic M. Internals about same as tractor engine, manifolds, carb may vary from tractor. Noted in archives that U engines may have oil dipstick instead of pan petcocks. RN
