Does anyone know of a source for production #"s of the IH Electrall"s? I have a trailer mounted unit and was wondering if there is a way to date it by the serial #. Thanks for any information.

Probably the subject matter expert here on YT is Wardner Randolph. I"ve read many of his responses to various questions regarding the Electrall system. Perhaps a post directed to him will get his attention provided he doesnt respond to this post, which he may well do.

Paul, you had to drag me out to the barn in the rain. Oh well, I'll get over it.

My Electrall is an early unit. It was installed on F400 #519. Some Electralls were sold on a few of the last SMTAs. It could be argued that all Electrall were early units because i have heard that IH only bought 1000. That was probably a minumum order for GE. I have also heard that only 103 were attached to and sold with the SMTA and 400. The balance were configured as stand alone Fast Hitch or trailer mounted units. Some went to the truck division.

The midmounted units were built differently from the others because they did not have an integral step-up gear box. The gear box on my unit attaches above the tractor IPTO drive gear. The connection to the generator is via v-belt.

My model number is 5ATB256B4. Serial number is PM 52. The PM could stand for Pulley-Mounted.

Most of my information on the Electrall is second hand. One would need to go to the IH Archives in Madison, WI to get accurate info.

Go to Google search engine and use IH electrall for search key and you will get 3 pages of hits. Might help - I didn't read all of them..... .....
