After shopping for Christmas tractors this year, I got to wondering which model I would really love to see produced as a 1/16 model. I think that either the H or M with an original wide front would be the one I would like to see. Of course, I am a little bit partial to them! The H is a '41 and the M is a '43. Which Farmall models would you guys like to see in small form?

 WDR-9 in reply to Eastsider, 12-06-2004 16:36:48
Ertl recently came out with a John Deere 830 Rice Special for the John Deere Collectors Club. An excellent compatible model which would be great for the Red Power Roundup in time for Lebanon would be a McCormick WDR9 Rice Field Special.

I will take the M, They dont make those in w\f yet, I have seen guys take a smta w\f, take of the decal and switch it with a M decal. My brother bought a 450 w\f at tsc for $50. It has the gear shift, throttle, ta, IPTO handle and the hydraulic handles on the right side of the dash. It also has a fast hitch

I don't like models, as they are never accurate, anyway, both of those tractors are already available. Ken Updike is familiar with all models.

I have a 450 gas and a 400D that are accurate as they can be, of course they are $100 tractors.

Could be, I've only seen pictures in Red Power Magazine etc, those aren't even close.

The models I've seen looked pretty accurate, still haven't figured out how they just sorta lean on air though.

Yep, I would love either the H or M with a wide front....only H's I have seen have a narrow front and it 'taint the same thing.

Would like to find them reasonable price enough that I could give one to my son to play with and have another for the shelf...

Let us know if you find em...

I would like to see a nice precision H in 1/16 scale, either narrow or wfe. Franklin mint came out with a pretty fair reproductin in 1/12 scale, but I still see some areas where it could have been done better. Perhaps Ertl will talk the Chinese into building a nice H one of these days. One thing that makes wfe precisions difficult is that the steering mechanisms such as tierods, if made to 1/16 scale are extreemly delicate and easily broken, sometimes during unpacking.

To me, personally, a H or M does not look right with a wide front axle. I guess it is what you are used to. In the South, 99% of M's and H's probably had narrow fronts, either single or dual, when they were new.
