just bought a 756d. when i put it in road gear and let off the clutch, it bogs down and wants to kill the engine. when i give it full throttle, it will go, but lag the engine, like it is under a pull. other gears work fine. the shift linkages are worn, so a shift kit is in the future. any ideas of the dilemma. thanks ahead of time

Bought a 806 one time that did the samething. The brakes were dragging. Drive it around for a few min. and feel the brake housings and see if they are hot. With out a load, you should be able to take off in high 4 at a idle with no problem with out starting in a lower gear and shifting up.

My 756 doesn"t have TA, I can take off with most any load in H 3. When I max out I move the throtle back all the way, and shift slowly into 4 very smoothly. If the load dictates start in H2 , and do the same. My 706 I start in H4 TA, I have never had load it wouldn"t start in TA H 4. 706 is also a 310D.

You've gotta get moving in High 2 or 3, then shift to 4. Takes a little practice, but can be done without grinding. Wind it up to full throttle, quickly close the throttle, clutch, and shift to 4.

You really can't start moving in 4th gear at all, even in TA it would bog down. If anything you might have a governor problem which is integral with the injector pump.

Not sure that you have a shifting problem. I have a 756D and when I try to start out in high gear Hi ta I have the same problem - so why not start out in in low ta.

I could start in H 4 and in TA with my 706 ger. Get rolling and shift the TA up. Under load I would start in H 3 and in TA. Then go to H 4 in TA and the shift to H 4. Takes some time time to figure out what works best for you.
