I've read postings about converting to 12V..
Without using lights, what is the easy way to do the conversion using the magneto and generator?
Thanks up front
Tony

Tony,

I've got some wiring diagrams of my 12-volt conversion on a C. If you want 'em, just shoot me an email.

It is real simple. Replace the generator, voltage regulator or cut out which ever you have, with a one wire alternator. You don't have to do anything in reference to the mag.

If you get a drain back from the alternator you will have to switch the alternator wire manually since you won't have a circut to put a relay in.

Go to the "Research & Info" column on the left side of this page click on "Articles" and type in 12 Volt and you will pull up lots of good information on this subject.

GOOD LUCK

Easy way. . . scrap the generator, but a $29.00 Delco 10SI alternator from auto parts store, a 12v battery, and go.

(Mag needs no alteration)

You can buy an alternator for $29.00?? I was thinking of converting my Super C to 12 volts but can't buy an alternator that cheap in Canada here at least that I can find. Is this just a cheap fits about anything GM alternator? Sure like the price.

I go to Oreilies In Eldorado, KS, and ask for a 10si for a tractor, no tax, etc under 30.00

Or 1979 chevy 1/2 ton, 250 engine, not 4x4 will yield a similar unit.
