Bought a F560D 1961 model 3150 hrs. Sat in a field for 15 years, engine free but not fueling. Rebuilt fuel pump and injectors. Fired it first time tonight. White smoke as thick as in a Saturday Night Honkytonk in the shop. $1750 invested so far. Tires hold air. Appearance is good. Opinions???

Whitish smoke upon startup is not uncommon especially if the glow plugs weren’t held in long enough, but it should clear in a couple of minutes as the engine warms up. If it doesn’t clear up after five minutes or so, check to see if you are loosing coolant from the radiator. If you aren’t loosing coolant or oil and it hits on all cylinders, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Just thought about that if the engine was dry all that time it sat, the head gasket could have rotted through or dried out enough somewhere to allow water to enter a cylinder. Does the exhaust smell sweet like it is burning anti-freeze? If so, you have a leak into one or more cylinders causing the white smoke.

Just a couple thoughts…
