All,

I'm working on a '40 M and I need to fabricate a new steering column support...it's the vertical tube that bolts to the deck on the bottom end and the supports the steering column on the top end. (The light switch box and and the light support bar attach to it too.) My original had two pieces...one of which is gone now, so I'm not sure what the original length is supposed to be.

Does anyone have an M they could measure for me? I'm looking for the distance from the deck to where the tube meets the cast joint.

Here's a pic of the top of the tube and the cast joint. (btw, yes, the hornets nest came with the tractor as a bonus ;-)

Many thanks,

- David

I'll sell you a good used one. Please email me. Also what is the extra U joint for? Looks like you need a shaft too. And the correct steering wheel! Let me know if i can help.

re: the steering wheel: you said it! This ol' girl has had some interesting history I think. I've got the steering wheel replaced already, but wow, getting the nut off that thing was a challenge.

I'll email you as per the support.
