I have a good running 350 Farmall if it will start! Starts well all summer and in warm dry weather. But if you let it set old in the rain or spring fall winter it loses spark and you have to take the point out and clean them. And it will start and run all day and restart no problem. I have changed caps, points, rotor, plugs still the same thing! What have I missed? It is 12 volt! Thanks

Hello I have a 350 which is 12 volt also and what i did is run a 12 volt wire through a SPRING LOADED toggle switch to the coil ,this is used when starting in damp weather ,just bump the switch and this gives the coil a jolt of 12 volt for just a secong which usually starts it ,This bypasses the resistor to the coil for just a second .
this does work just make sure to use the right type of switch if you do this Dave

Had same problem on 400 years ago sitting outside in wet weather would not start Dads simple fix was to tie old tire inner tube around distributor fixed problem kept water out this may be the cheap fix. Snowman.

Sounds like weak coil to me. Coil usually acts up when hot but weak coil can cause systems you have too.

I had a Buddy who had some trouble , we would have to Pull Start him when he was set to pull. VERY VERY simple fix , and not very costly. We put a Pertronix Electronic Ignition in his 350 and its as Realiable as a Good Dog now . It starts every time and dont crank much more than 3 times around before she fires. very simple installation and a Nice upgrade in my book .

I think you have answered your own question to a point (no pun intended). The points are getting some oxidation on them possibly from humidity or another source. Some folks will try WD-40 in the cap to try and prevent this; I have seen plastic bags tied around the distributors in an attempt to keep them dry. My opinion is that moisture is getting on those points causing them to corrode just a bit. Make sure the vents in the bottom of the cap are open and that you drive out as much moisture out of the distributor as possible with a hair dryer and let it cool before you put the cap on. Their may even be moisture further back in the distributor that is working its way into the point area but when the weather is warm evaporates before the points corrode.

Just some ideas, good luck!

When I converted my 300U to twelve volt It actually cranked too fast. In the winter it would flood before starting. I know it doesn't seem like it should but it did. I learned to shut my fuel off when I was done with it and start it with the fuel off and just what gas was available. Be real quick with the choke too. Other than that it is prone to drawing moisture but only when rainy never in the winter.
