About 10 below this morning and I finally had compassion on the poor old dog and let him in by the stove. He always sleeps on the enclosed porch and it ain't much warmer than outside. When I looked out he was sitting up not sleeping and something told me that if is too cold for him to sleep it must be cold. Hope all you guys get your tractors started this morning. I'm on afternoon feeding right now so don't have to worry about it.

Cowman: After reading your responces, I have determined you are getting more cold weather than you deserve. Remember you were born in the Great Lakes basin, 45-50 degrees today. Oh those greener pastures.

I had 5 above this morning here in north central NE. We only have about 2" of snow so I'm not complaining. My in-laws have 9 or 10 inches down near North Platte and they are still harvesting.

Low last night was 73. Highs in the mid 80エs. Coldest Iエve seen in the last 5 years here was 68. Summer is a whole different story!

I work for a helicopter company here as a technical advisor. Summer lasts 9 months and it stays around 90-100 in the day and 85-90 at night. With the ocean on all sides, it makes for hot and nasty!

Balmy 13 degrees (above) zero here in SE SD. I feel sorry for you guys. It is supposed to get over 40 here today and I hope it does. I had to borrow a neighbors auger to move some corn and he bleeds green, and his hydraulics are all JD, so a green tractor came with it. I didn稚 think about plugging in that 4430 last night as I知 not worried about my 966 starting up today but I知 concerned and hope that green things starts later this afternoon! :>)

Keep warm!

When I dropped my kids off at school the radio said it was 8 in Valentine, and that Alliance had been down to 20 something below last night. BRRRR!!! I ran my trapline then was coming back by where my brother was loading the feedwagon. Noticed that instead of the four-wheel-drive JD with the heated cab, he was using the loader on the old open-station 656 gasser(same tractor that had the stacker hydrofork on it in my pics). He probably wasn't happy about it since he prefers his green, but the JD has cable controls that run it's loader that tend to freeze up in this kind of weather, so it looks like I'll be working on some green iron today....just put a water pump on a green one yesterday- the fun never ends!

Wish we could get some of that snappy cold too. Need temps at about 10 below with a good 10 knot wind outta the northwest for the next three days running.

(Got a farm sale to attend with one priority item in mind) :>)

Cowman please keep that cold weather up there will you. 20 min northwest of Springfield, Mo this morn at 7:45 it is 30 above on my patio. That is just about cold enought for me. I haven"t heard any weather or been out this morn yet, but last night at 9:30 it was a light mist. I didn"t drive last night, wed before Thanksgiving I think was the first night in a month I didn"t have to turn my wipers on at least onced. Keep your feet warm and dry. Jim

My Hound sleeps on my toes.... all 120 lbs of him. I get a little chill and my feet slip right under him.

..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like Mother of Pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.

He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"

"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.

"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?"

"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in."

"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.

"There should be a bowl by the pump." They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.

The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree. "What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.

"This is Heaven," he answered.

"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell."

"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"

"No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind."

Mornin Cowman, Man that is cold! Warmer than usual in the north east. Crazy weather! All this time on your hands will give you time to write another book!

Was watching the History channel last nite and they had a program about cattle mutilation out your way and some different theories on what caused it. Pretty interesting.
