I have I-4 ser.5859 Tag is stamped -4,BH5859 the I"s were added with a chisel to read I-4 IBH 5859.Is every I-4 marked in such a manner? Is this tractor a 1939 like I think it is? How many were built? This is a big mystery to me. Any help is wonderful. Thanks in advance Eric

I have seen a few I-4s and every one of them has the I that looks like a screwdriver or chisel was used to stamp it.Mine is.

There were 213 4 series produced in 1940 (Guy Fay's data), yours is a 1943. The prefix is supposed to be IBH, someone else will have to explain yours. But, it looks to me like someone messed with your tag--but I don't know.

The I-4, W-4, O-4, etc was not introduced until 1941.
