I father-in-law is looking for a land plow for a farmall A no hydraulics. We live in New England. We think his last one was a JD #52, which used a rope to trip the plow up or down to the ground. Any body have something like this, in the NE at a reasonable price?

Thank you for your help
Mike

Hi Mike, You may find a moldboard plow to fit the Farmall A at your local farm equipment dealer.
I had an A with a 16-inch plow. You had to remove
the drawbar in order to install the plow and it wasn't that hard to raise and lower the plow.

That JD52 sounds like a trailing type
plow that we used when I was on the farm. Only we used 2-bottom IH plows. These plows may more readily available since farmer's are using bigger tractors now that can handle 4-bottom or even 5-bottom plows. They do a lot of no-till in my area
and some are using chisel plows.

I'm not sure the A would pull a 2-bottom plow, but if it wouldn't you could remove
one of the moldboard's and make it a single furrow plow. It would just take a little longer.
They use no-till around here to keep the top soil
from washing away during heavy rains. They strip crop a lot too on hilly slopes.

Send an email to Lancaster Farming Journal to request a courtesy copy of their paper.
It has a lot of farm equipment advertised in it.
This is their email address farming@lancasterfarming.com, if you have a problem call 717-626-1164. Good Luck, Hal
