I recently acquired a "C" Farmall it has fading red paint over white. The serial number on the tool box is 56520 (1951) according to my sources. Everyone I have talked to says the serial number is too high for it to be a demonstrator-however, the inside of the tool box is white and also behind the air cleaner is white. Any one know whether it could be a demonstrator or not?? If it is I would like to obtain a picture of a demonstrator for the proper paint scheme.

The accepted serial range is 47010-54411: Jan-March 1950. 56520 is still in 1950. At that rate IH was building about 2500 a month. So yours was probably built near the end of April 1950. No one is absolutely sure of the serials. See if there is white paint under the hood, inside the grille, and on the valve cover, oil pan, etc. If it has the original dealer applied red paint over the white, I doubt if the dealer took many parts off when he repainted it. If it has a battery box, look inside it, and between the battery box and the hyd reservoir. Also someone could have faked it -- I don't know. Guy Fay's Farmall Letter Series Tractors has pictures, available at most book stores or Amazon, or Barnes and Noble over the internet. Basically, the wheels, steering wheel, seat pan, distributer, air cleaner cap are red, everything else white -- I may have missed something. I have a white farmall, but I like red, not white, so I repainted it red -- to each his own
