Just geting into an O-6 that I bought a couple of weeks ago. One rear tire is bad. It has an unmached pair of 14-26 tires. Over the weekend I snatched up a nice pair of 14.6-26 matched Firestone tires. Today I got the fenders off and realized that there was less than 1" clearance between the tires that are on it and the fenders.

These new new ones measured, without being mounted, should go right on with any problem.

Since I am not above making a mistake I would like your input before I put all the labor into changing one of these tires. Tire size changes are not in my memory bank.

John,

Standard tires from the factory on the O-6 were 13 x 26 which would now be the 14.9 x 26. The 14 x 26 you have were listed as optional.

When did I become a tire expert?? I have never owned a 6 series, and have seen them only from a distance. And I get my info out of Miller Tire's catalog for tractors I am not familiar with, which includes everything except the letter series. SO, the tires you have are 14.9-26, not 14.6-26, and is the "new" designation for the 13-26. And,if you have 14-26's on it now those tires are now designated 16.9's, so your new tires are smaller.

Sorry if I gave you more credit than you deserve. I had just read your reply to Ted Ky about tire size and the changes in nomencaltures. It appeared that you seemed to know more than most of us about this subject.

I have a lot of places to look stuff up in, right most of the time, not always. Sometimes run into trouble with tractors I'm not that familiar with, but at least, according to Harold H, I was right on this one. But, I'm always willing to take more credit than I deserve. As a kid I always new the tire sizes on everything my dad had.
