I was wondering if anyone could tell me the cylinder head torque specs and order for a IH 454 Gas. C157 engine. I can't find my manual..... Thanks!

Hi Joe, My manual doesn't cover the C157, but it covers the C152 and my manual recommends 70 ft-lbs for that engine. Always start in the center of the head when torquing and torque in both directions until you reach the last bolts, then start increasing the torque 10- 15 ft-lbs and go back to the center and go over the bolts again.
Keep repeating this procedure until you reach 70 ft-lbs. I would start around 30-35 ft-lbs.

PS: After you get that engine running and heated up retorque the head again check your valve lash.

If you locate your manual you can increase
the torque. Any IH dealer will give you that torque. Try 1-800-732-0017 and ask for farm equipment service. They're located in PA. They will even fax you copy of the torque procedure
for that head. Good Luck, Hal
