Just for interest and conversation, how many of ya'll own, or know where one is located, a Rice Field Special; WR-9, WDR-9, Super WDR-9, or WR-9-S?

 WR-9-S in reply to John M, 11-21-2004 06:07:52
John,

When the Super models came out in 1953 there was no Super W-9 gasoline tractor. In the R version, disk brakes were added but the same gasoline engine was continued and it was called a WR-9-S rather than a Super WR-9 since it still had the same HP engine as the WR-9.

My Uncle had a Super WDR9 rice field special. Not sure if I got the letters in the right order. I was supposed to have it but when I went to get it 1/2 year after the funeral (didn't think I should look greedy, I hate buzzards). His evil son sold it, then played stupid. I'm still irked. I really liked that tractor.

Question for Big John in reply to BIG JOHN, 11-20-2004 19:29:42
I have found several Ertl #4418 1/64 scale models of Super WD-9 but have not found anything in 1/16 scale. Do you have the Ertl model number of your 1/16 model WD-9 and do you know where they might be for sale?

Thanks,

Harold H

1/16 th Model in reply to Harold H, 11-20-2004 10:10:34
Does anybody know if any company has ever produced a 1/16 scale model of any version of the 9 series tractors? At a tractor show this summer I saw a sharp model of a John Deere R Rice Field Special that I think had just been introduced. I don't know what company made it but it was a good looking model. I wish someone would come out with a simular WR-9 model.

Don't know if you read www.redpowermagazine.com or not. If not go there and ask Ken Updike (Bermuda Ken). He seems to keep up with the models. Ken is also on this board occasionally.
