I have a F30 in need of a engine. The block is junk, pistons and sleeves junk, head and manifold might be useable.I bought a non runing not stuck 10-20 in hopes of useing the block, crank, pistons for the F30. Has anybody done this or ever heard of it. I hope the head bolts all line up the same.Would I use a F30 or a 10-20 gasket set. If this works I will have 10-20 parts for sale. Appreciate any advice.

just use the f-30 head, so you will have a water pump. the rest will bolt up.

I think ( I am usually wrong) the 10 -20 gasket set works just fine on your F-30 and vice versa (I did it but ignorance knows no fear..) I don't believe the rings, pistons or sleeves are the same. Sorry can't tell you if you could swap complete emgines. The head would probbably be different due to the waterpump plumbing. Just me but I don't think it will go with out pretty major grinding and welding.

Im going to work on the 10-20 today and see if I can get it started before I take the head off. If it runs OK I will hate to remove the head from 10-20 because F30 head needs so much work, new valves and guides for starters. Im only dreaming here so bear with me, what if I put complete 10-20 engine (minus clutch) into F30. Im open for comments. Thanks.

I think you will devaluate two tractors. It will be obvious that it isn't a 30 engine with out the pump. The flat belt ( one other wonder at crank swapage for me) will be obvious too. But if you just want a running tractor and it will bolt up .. why not? You need to hear from Cowman. He seems to really be in the know on this era stuff.
