Mornin All,

Found this picture of this old IH still working up in Canada. Goes to prove that a guy really doesn't need all the new-fangled bells and whistles.

What is this? 'Bout a 40ish K7? My dad had a 47 K5 and this one is bigger and older than it was.

Allan: Here in Ontario, there is a guy with a fleet of those. My daughter was there and took a few photos. she made up an album for me. This guy has 75 restored vehicles, trucks and tractors, and 150 unrestored vehicles and all stored inside. Here is the list K5 sa tractor, K7 sa tractor, K8 sa tractor, 1937 IHC pickup, Farmall 400, Farmall 300, Super W4, early 50s 110 pickup, 57 one ton stake, Super MD, Brockway Husky, B-61 Mack. All those trucks are registered and insured for the road and all are IH Red with black fenders. That is only a partial list of the line up. There is one I think a K8 with twin driveshafts. All the highway tractors have chrone rear fenders.

Allan: I have seen those trucks but the Reo's I remember best were a fleet of buses not far from my hometown.

i think this is a kb8, with that big of a grain box on it, sweet old trucks, i wonder if it is a two stick, tranny, those are a lot of fun if you like a lot of shifting, those old reo's are nice too, also the old diamont t's, lots of chrome on them for the day, there is another truck from those old days called a brown, i believe it was a " assembled truck" meaning the verious componets were brought and then assembled to build the truck, had a unuasual body style on them, there virtualy unheard of today, anybody remember them? and please don't make me drool on my keyboard by telling me that you have one in your barn , and it still runs too, just rambeling on ericlb

Around '40-'49 they are so much alike that I can't tell the difference? I do know that this is a K or KB7, 8 or 10. They look alike too. The main way I can tell is by the size of the wheels and this one looks to be a 7. The K/KB5 is a 1 1/2 ton and has much smaller wheels and hood. I love these things and one day will find a good one.

Allan, way back when I was a kid there was a guy in out neighborhood that a pair of those KBs with mounted corn shellers. About 10 years ago I got to thinking about those trucks and took a drive one day to see if they were still around, and there they were, sitting out behind his house. As luck would have it, there was no one home, and then I just sort of forgot about it for a while. When I remembered several months later and started asking about them, found out they were already gone. I have no idea where they went.

After my dad quit raising sugar beets, he took off the beet box and put the old K5 under a 6-ton Farmhand manure spreader box where it lived out it's remaining years.

He liked to call it his "Honey Wagon". :>)

Boy! How that old truck could work!

That's what I like about old IH stuff.

This truck will probably only hit 45mph top speed, but the thing will just keep on a runnin' 'til forever.

Just warms the soul to see a picture like that!

Nope. I'll dig around for a photo. I hate I sold it... I didn't mean to! A fellow named Dick Clark (yup) from New Hampture rang my door bell one night. Heard I had a few old tractors. I said yes but they aren't for sale. He insisted i priced them so we went down to the shed I walked around put a hand on each one (even the parts tractors) I put the price way up there because I was a little indignant about the whole thing. He tallied it all up (with my beautiful pickup included) and peeled off travelers checks. I never cried and orgasmed at the same time since or before. He brought 4 Warner semi trailers and All I could do was stand in the road and stare blankly as they drove out of sight.

Will ya stop!

Reminds me of the day they came in with those pots and hauled off my cattle.

Absolutely one of the bluest days I've ever lived thru.

But, we continue on,

Allan
