Hi Joe, If you have a problem finding a block heater give Phillips & Temro in MN a call at 1-800-328-6108. They also have heaters that you install in the radiator hose. Hal

Hi Joe, Canadian Tire used to sell an 800W heater that went into the lower rad hose. It looks much like a frost plug heater but it is installed by cutting a hole in the lower rad hose. The element has to be as close to the block as possible. They work very well, used one on B414D for many years.

Good luck

Joe: Your right, you will not find a TSC store in Atlantic Canada. It's just a farm and country hardware store. You might try Princess Auto in Dartmouth or one of the Co-op hardware stores.

My brother has another type, kind of like a blanket designed to fit tightly on bottom side of oil pan of his 230. I never asked him much about it but it must be designed for a tractor as it fits snugly around pan right up to block. If you wish e mail me, I'll give you his phone no. He is in central NS.

Joe, I was given a magnetic block heater as a gift from my kids. You can stick it on the oil pan, side of the block, at the water pump housing, where ever you want to heat...TSC stores carry them and they were not expensive. When you are ready to go unplug it and set it on the bench for next time. I use mine on the bottom of the oil pan on a small diesel to heat it up when the temperatures get below -10C, I can start with a shot of ether above-10C. They are pretty nifty and easy to use....Mike in Exeter Ontario

we have a W4 that came from western Canada. It has a heater that replaces one of the head studs. I suppose the bottom end goes right down into the coolant, and the top end is torqued down on the head. I wouldn't have any idea where you would find one of those now!! Has anyone seen one of those before?? Were they availlable from the dealers when the Ws were new?? Thanks all!!

Joe;

We preferd an external tank heater. Had a head bolt heater on an M. Lower rad.heater on the Ferguson. External tank heaters on the 706 and the other M.They connect to the block drain for supply and feed into a tap in the head or water pump. Least liked was the magnetic heater. Didnt think it did a very good job.
