Any ideas on the specs are needed on new plug wires? I noticed the outer cover on one of the wires was worn thru and was arcing a bit against the oil filter housing, looked like it burnt thru. I figured I'd replace all the wires, what brand should I look for? I have the original owners manual, but it does not list specs for wires or plugs.
Thanks in advance.

Just saw this message. My 240U started missing, died, and absolutely would not start a few days ago. I had already replaced the carb so I figured I would update the electrical system. My old Case-IH guy (age 86) sold me a set of non-resistor copper core wires, a new dist cap+points and advised me that the existing plugs were too cold and recommended hotter plugs. Put everything on and it popped right up somewhat to my surprise!

Point being that the wires were some generic set that you cut to length that he said worked on all gas tractors, $9.95 and they were not resistor. Would you need resistor if you are not worried about RF interference? I don't have a radio on my tractor.

Interesting. I'll look inot it. The tractor stores around here seem to be scratching their heads, and wondering how they can order a set....Thanks for the info!

When I bought my Super A I installed new wires. They were the ones recommended from my local IH dealer. They are the resistor style and I do find that that my tractor missies and runs rough. Where do I get copper wires and will any copper wires work?

Brand won't matter, just make sure you use a copper core wire. These old tractors don't seem to like resistor core wire for spark plug wires.

Ditto on the need to use copper wire. My C had resistor core wire when I got it. It had a hesitation or miss in it that I could not get rid of until I changed out the plug wires for Copper wire.
