Ihad the 560 down to replace tranny houseing, I drained oil from the engine, planning to pull oil pan for inspection. painted the tractor while it was apart. The oil was replaced 4 months later with out pulling pan, but i did replace the front seal. Now with new starter and battery the engine spins but nary a pop. I have bled the fuel sys. up to the injectors and have used ether, but I only get a little smoke wafting out the pipe. I have spun this thing til I'm blue in the face. Any one out there with a simular experiance? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

If the return line is blocked, it will not start. Also, on the 460's, and 560's, the batteries will get weak, (if you use glow-plugs very long). Those tractor's will not crank, if the spinning RPM's are to low. Use 2 12volt batteries. With 2 sets of cables. Sloved my problems on a 460. Hope this helped. David

thanks, these glow plugs were new last july. it semes like if it's not gettin fuel it would still hit on ether, would'nt it? When you hold the button in on glow plug up to a minute, and keep it in while cranking, it spins a bit slower. Reckon pullin it and poppin the clutch is next. Thank yall for your input.

Steve you need to get some real smoke before you do any thing else. If you got new starter and batteries you should get good fuel at the injectors with the lines loose, if not no need jerk it to try and start it it will not start anyway. Same with glow plugs they need to be good but if you don't have fuel it wil not start. You may have air, pluged return line, matbe need more fuel in the tank. If it sat for a long time and the delievery valve was close to bad maybe it has failed if so it will never start. So until you get good smoke work on the fuel.

Hi Steve,

I know what you mean; gettin' a dry diesel to pop can sometimes really be a challenge, especially those with the glow plugs.

But, that smoke you see at the pipe means you are gettin' awfully close. Maybe this one is a candidate for the old log chain shuffle and a tug around the yard 'til she finally decides its time to wake up?

Allan

Are your glow plugs working?
