H tricycle front end question

I'm in the process of reassembling the front bolster after replacing the thrust bearing and oil seal and was wondering what was an acceptable amount of vertical "play" once the castle nut over the sector gear is tightened down. It seems as though the cotter pin will be above the grooves in the castle nut once it is tightened. I may need a washer/spacer above the sector gear to allow the castle nut to remain high enough? P.S. I do have the spacer (under the thrust bearing). Thanks.

The shaft shuld be shimmed so the sector gear is centered on the worm gear when the tractor weight is on the front tires. This will help eliminate shimmy.

The H should have a spacer with the thrust bearing do you have that.

There is a felt Washer that need to be put on the shaft before you slide the shaft up thought the bolster that I have forgotten an it made a little differance. I have also put a wasing on top of the gear an below the Castle nut to take up a very little play. I have also found some H's with the washer already there as well. Once you put the boleter together I find that there is not much play since there is alot of weight resting on the frontend. However even after I have rebuilt the bolster completely you still have some shimmy in road gear at high speed (ie 15/17mph) LOL
