sscattle: You should just consider cutting cab down to where you want it. That cab and platform are quite different from earlier models such as 56 and 66. I rather doubt you get rid of a lot of weight. If you remove glass, insulation, doors and some sheet metal, your really back to 4 post canopy anyhow. I'd be willing to bet that aside from platform, glass and doors are 65% of weight of that cab.

depends on how light you want to get it,if it is going for pulling only ditch the cab and get aluminum fender deck made.
if it is going for farm/pulling get out the sazall.

We took a cab off a 1086 that had been rolled and replaced it with one that we got from one of my contact and had it setting around when my buddy deceided that he wanted to make his 1066 into a 1086 for pullen and make it open station , So we fired up the tourches and made it and open station and made up mounting brackets and took muffler tubing to make the round pices that a 786 has on the left and right ft. edges that go from the floor plate to the hood line made up some sheet metal patches to cover the box tubing of the ROPS posts on the rear pulled the interior off and amde sheetmetal pannels for the sides where the foam was . So you can do it and make it look factor every body thought that he went and bought and 86 the next year out and it was still the old 1066 underneath.

All 886, 986, 1086, 1486, and 1586 tractors left the factory with a cab or a 4-post ROPS with canopy. Aftermarket cabs were never used on these tractors. The only true 86 series tractor to leave the factory with an actual open operators platform was the 786 (the 686 had an open station, but that is a 656 series tractor, not an 86 series) Your only real option is to find a 786 and swap the platform onto your 10, then put the cab on the 7. I think it would be very easy to swap them. Unfortunatly, they only built about 1800 786's. If you don't mind having the 4-post ROPS, there are quite a few 86's around with it.

Wow! Can't believe I read that as a 1066.... Geeze, must really be gettin' old.

Thanks for the correction,

SS,

Depends on what cab you've got. If it is an aftermarket like an Egging, Heniker or Year-Round,
all ya do is lift the thing off and there is your original open-station platform.
