I am looking at getting another H model, specifically a Wide front end 44 model with a front end loader serial #1587253. It has the starter tank, which I believe means that it is a distilate setup. Is this correct? Also, are there any issues I should look for when purchasing a tractor with this set up? It runs, and everything seems to work fine. I'm just wondering about any red flags to look for.

Nothing to worry about, the distillate engines used the lower compression head, which will ultimately result in slightly less horsepower, but you will never notice it. It's a safe bet that this tractor has been running on gasoline for most of it's life. There is no reason to consider this tractor any different than any other H.

Yes, well I know it still has the starter tank on it and it runs. I just want to know if there is anything to look out for with this particular set-up?

I have a 44 "H" which had the distillate carb and extra gas tank for several years. It had no problems. I just traded for a gas carb and took off the small tank, mostly for fun. It runs just the same.
