Will this motor bolt into an A Farmall? If so, will the manifold and carb off of the A work on the C-153 motor?

Id just like to have that 153 for my 2500 backhoe. You know where any more 203 combines are? LOL

Yep...it will go in. I did one myself...now I have a real hot rod.
You will have to get the transmission drive shart shortened and machined. I did this using a throw out bearing from a 300U.
You will have to raise the radiator up and either use a down exhaust or do like I did and use pipe to relocate the exhaust.
The air cleaner has no place to be bolted to so you will have to use a remote 504 air cleaner or an after market auto air filter that slides on the carb.
I have not turned the govenor down yet...the thing runs nearly 40MPH...it is dangerous, but sure runs a 5ft woods belly mower.
Good luck...it's a lot of work...but can be done.
By the way. Remember...you will have 4 times the horsepower that transmission and rearend were built for. Be careful what you hook to the drawbar.

sounds like you have aready done what I am planning to do. Except, I was thinking to pull the 123 out of my Super C and put it in my Super aA then put the 153 in the super C. Any problems that I should know about? The 153 came out of a 230 swather. The swathers are a good source of engines for tractors.

Just take your time and it will all come together. I used an old flywheel as I mentioned and machined out the center to accept a 300U pilot bearing. I then had to take about 3/4 of an inch off an old transmission shaft I had to fit it. By using the bearing in a flywheel rather than the crankshaft, the shaft had to be cut down.
I used a 200 radiator, but it had to have spacers under it to raise it up for proper alignment.
Then of course I had to play with the exhaust and the air filter.
There is nothing you can not play with and figure out. That is what makes it fun.
Just remember, that engine turns a lot faster than a 123. Be careful with it. I normally never go beyond half throttle unless I am mowing with the belly mower. That thing will throw grass thirty feet if you let it.
Good luck. If I can help...let me know.

The 153 will fit but its not just a bolt in fit. The back of the crank will have to be machined for a bushing. water conections, and fan I think thats it. And yes the manifold from the A will work Just cuts down the HP

Mike,
I took an old Super C flywheel and modified the center so I could press a 300U bearing into it. Then shortened the shaft to fit. It works really well.

The C153 was in the 504 -- maybe others, about 45 hp or close to 3X the hp of the C113 in the A. I believe the C135 (if that's what you mean) is a descendant of the 113, might fit, I don't know. You are better off putting the original C113 in it, or the C123 that was in the Super C and Super A-1.

the stamping on the side of the block is C-153. I have the motor and have found an A at an auction this weekend that has a locked motor. I thought if I could buy the tractor cheap and the motor would bolt in I would try to pick it up. Just trying to find out if it is worth my time.

Don't discount how easy it may be to rebuild the stuck engine and have a nice original tractor.

Sometimes a stuck engine only needs a little ATF in the cylinders to help free it and then will run fine with no additional work.

Do you mean C-123, not C-153 ??? Like form a Super A or Super C ??? Or a C-152 from a H ????

The C-123 will bolt up, but you'll need the taller radiator and grille if you intend to work it. And I belive the gas tank sits higher too.

The manifold swap will work. A, B, C, Super A & Super C all the same.

I don't think the H motor would work, but I've seen some pretty crazy conversions at tractor shows. (Monster Garage specials) :) anythings possible with the right tools and imagination.

From what I have picked up on the puller board it will work with a few mods here and there. I would like to get a cam and the head from one.
