Guys,
We have a Farmall 350 that has been converted to 12V. We have a recurring issue with the starter. When the tractor sits for a few weeks without use, the starter quits working. You here a clicking noise and that is it. We have to drag it and pop start it to get the tractor running. The battery has a full charge. It works fine as long as week use it regularly. The problem is after it sits a while. Is this a problem with the bendix? I would think it would be more consistant if it was. Anyonw have any thoughts? If it is the bendix, how difficult is it to fix? Thanks
Ken

I had a similar problem with my 340. After checking all connections still click, click. I changed the sonenoid switch and fixed problem. If yours has one I would change it out, costs about 20 bucks. LOL PUTTER

Ken,

If you're hearing a stuttering or "clicking' noise, that sounds like a low battery. I'd have it tested.

Probably corroded cables and connections. How do you know the battery has a full charge after several weeks? -- Unless you charge it first, it has probably lost a lot of it's charge. Can you jump start it?

CKNS,
Thanks for the response. We always disconnect the battery when the tractor is not in use, and charge it before using after any down time. That is why I am certain it is not the battery. I was considering the connections, or maybe ground to be an issue. I am not very good with the electrical side. Have no problems with the mechanical side. I guess I will start by making sure the connections are all good and take it from there. Thanks again for the resonse.
