The seat spring actally broke on me when moving dirt a last year. Really got my attention. My '47 M has the Monroe seat so I got both the spring And the tall shock, and let me tell you, that tall gas charged shock changed everything. Man, do you sit tall in the saddle and the ride is still pretty good.

we are more portly than 20 years ago,you can double the spring 2 inside the other,or you buya peewee football and stuff it in the spring and pump it up to your specs.its the best ride youll ever have on a monroe seat and a good question getter.

Check the suppliers as some of them have three different weight loads for that spring.

I put a coil from an overload shock on the original shock, works great for me.

Joe, The old curved type seat support might work for you, there is not much give in the spring that sets on top. Ed

Yep, double the coil spring, install a newer shock and the seat should be fine for the tailbone.
