I'm a green guy but I hope I'm welcome to this site. I am intriqued by the 2+2 tractors and was surprised when I punched in to search previous discusions nothing came up. I would like to get one some day as it would tear the neighborhood up to see one on my farm. Any pros or cons and what series had troubles if any. thanks.

Must be power steering pump with the one complaint, but we have a 3588 and a 3788 and they are so easy to drive compared to how they look. Cheap power. We love them. They take a little tinkering, but I think it comes with the cheap power. Otherwise a rather reliable power horse with ungodly amounts of traction. Need to definately shop, though. There are 2+2's that are definately bad apples. Good luck, and maybe you'll turn a little red in the future. Just kidding, buddy. Happy hunting.

We had a 3388 that we put 5000 hours on. My left shoulder still hurts from the hard steering. We had alot of hyd pump troubles. The tractor got to the point of being tooooo expensive to keep in the field.

Just type anteater, landshark or snoopy in the search box.

Yea, the 2+2 messes up a lot of search engines. Sometimes it is best to search by general model number like 3588. They are cheap power, one in the des moines register this year for 10,500. Had around 3700 hours with duals and had a photo ad, looked like new. That's hard to beat. You will find a few guys that had them that didn't like them, but I would say far and away the guys that got them like them, and a lot of them have gotten more than one lately. Most problems seem to come up when guys dual the front, or ballast them, or turn the heck out of the pump, trying to make a big four wheel drive out of them. Most important thing is the home they came from. You can get a good deal on one if you look, 6-7000.

Ours pulls like heck with no ballast, the biggest thing you might find is the shifters are in the way on the 3000 series as far as getting in and out of the cab, and it probably won't shift as well as the deeres. I like ours well enough to buy a second one if we go to a 12 row planter. Good luck.

we have a 3788, good tractor, but the clutch blew itself all apart chopping. picked up the front with the quick hitch on my big allis and carried it home wish I woulda got pictures), pump turned waaaaa aay up to run the chopper. had something go wrong with the steering hand pump that was expensive but that and the clutch are the only real problems we've had.
