Hello, anyone out there know where I might find a retailer that might carry gaskets and o-rings for the hydraulics pump and related components for a '49 farmall c and '53 farmall super c. Someone that will not gouge me.

The o-rings you can find about anywhere. The gaskets from Case-IH are about as cheap as anywhere. If you are going to overhaul the reservoir, the kit from Case-IH costs $90-$100. Too much? Maybe, but it includes all you need for the reservoir, except the boots. If all you want to work on is the pump, it won't cost much, unless you have to use a speedy sleeve on the shaft. You may find that your 49 shaft has a seal (leaks into the crankcase), and the 53 an o-ring. If so you can't put a speedy sleeve on the 53 unless you enlarge the shaft hole.

inside the pump on the "53 was a pretty bad decomposed rubber gasket with a brass lining on one side. Is this part of a kit. My dad did tell me that the cyclinder kit would run a bit over $100. I"d like to have a rebuilt pump on hand for next spring as I feel the one in it is about to go. He"s had to rely on buying parked tractors to get pumps and hydraulic system to keep "em running. Would Case-IH also carry the pump"s kit? Thank you for your speedy reply

Not sure if the pump kit is still available -- there was more than one brand of pump, mine has an 0-ring. IH used Thompson pumps and more than one model of Pesco. I don't have a Super C parts book, and don't want to chance the my regular C number, because it might be different. The type seal you have is available from Case-IH or if you can read the number, it can be crossed at NAPA or a place that sells bearings and seals. But, unless you have a gear problem, all parts --seals, o rings, etc should be available from Case-IH, kit or individually. Those pumps are pretty simple, and easy to rebuild, so I would think you could rebuild yours and be safe. Since you have a seal and not an o-ring, if there is a groove in the shaft, you can use a $25+/- Speedy-or Redi-sleeve to prevent leaks. Or a machine shop can rebuild the shaft-but they should use a technique that does not ruin the temper in the shaft. A speedy sleeve is not as durable as a properly machined shaft. Going to be gone for a couple of days, hope I helped.
