I need to find a thermostat for my 1958 International 240 utility tractor. Which thermostat may be substituted for the original one? Something that could be found at Napa or carquest or similar. I believe the thermostat should operate at 170 degrees, is this right? and what should the radiator cap be rated at? Thanks in advance.

Thermostat is at 170, cap is 7 or 8 pounds, I belive. Hugh's right, Case-IH has surprisingly fair prices on these parts. Last radiator caps I bought there were for bigger tractors, but were only about $6. If you don't have a dealer nearby, a good NAPA can probably help you.

Phil: You can still get the right thermostat and cap at CaseIH dealers. The auto parts stores can match up the thermostat quite well, maybe the cap as well, not sure on that one.
