Hello,

I recently purchased a Farmall M. The PO thought it was a '48 or '49 model. The SN tag was gone when he bought it a few years ago, but the man he bought it from said he thought it was a '48 or '49.

I checked the engine casting, & it was 3 27 N. If the letter / year is the same as Farmall Cubs, that would make this a 1944 model. Is this correct? Does anyone know if the engine casting letter / year codes are the same for all Farmall tractors?

And would a WWII tractor have any special significance?

Thanks,
\s\ Robert

The N code does make it a 1944. No more or less valuable than any other M.

I have a 1943 M that has a steel shifter handle. I was told this was termed a "war tractor".
