Had my wife drive the H last week she only got halfway thru the field before she wanted to get off. she said it felt like it was going to tip over she never drove anything with narrow front end before . Its funny because when she drives her car she has me looking for a brake that isn"t there she drives like an idiot scares the crap out of me . guess I dont have to worry about her taking the tractor anywhere . Have any of you had your wives drive you tractor ?

My wife was from Colombia South America and had never driven tractors before. I taught her to drive a wide front M. She had driven cars with standard transmissions so operating a clutch was no mystery to her. In no time at all I had her in the fields with me discing, tedding hay, raking and pulling hay wagons. She also did some plowing with a Ford 9N and 2 bottom plow. She loved it and really turned out to be a good operator.

I've asked my wife a number of times if she'd like to learn to drive the tractor. She always says "yes, but some other time". Which I've discovered is wifespeak meaning "dear, I know the tractor is important to you and I don't want to hurt your feelings, but nothing is further down my wish list than learning to drive that stupid tractor!"

My wife grew up a townie. But now that she's out in the country, its hard to keep her off the tractor. She operates like a champ, and the farm is just a big playground. She since has bought her own Super M, and recently bought an Oliver Super 77. Her favorite piece of equipment is the skid steer loader.

I think I've created a monster!

MY wife drives all the tractors,she does'nt really like the narrow front ones. Her favorite one is (don't flame me here) the 2N ford. I guess because it is darn near impossible to turn it over. I have had her on the H,both 560's and am M and she did ok.She was really scared of the WD Allis with narrow front and a loader,but come to think of it so was I.She did'nt like the 210 AC at all,I think she was afraid of all the power.

My ladyfriend Darla loves the He!! out of my H. She is a music major and teaches middle school band and music. After any challenging day she comes over to my shop and kinda asks " is the H runnin'?" 'cause I'm always tinkering on it. I usually always say yes and off she goes. After about a half an hour or so tooling around the acerage by herself, with her own thoughts, she comes back with a real smile on her face. She can take any farmall(s) I have and do this. It is indeed the best (cheapest) therapy I Know.

Was up in the woods bush hogging a fence row out and my wife walked up to tell me it was time to eat supper. She wanted to drive the 300 home, so a short lesson later there she went down the gravel road, second gear, throttle closed, when she got home said she would never do that again that she was going to tip over. But in a pickup she also scares the crap out of you, thinks a gravel road is a interstate.

At a family reunion a couple of years ago, I had everyone take a turn driving an "H" around the field while I stood on the drawbar. Everyone seemed to enjoy the drive and had a big smile on their face.

I did. The first time she drove my H she had no clue I was going to put her on it. Once she was up there and got rid of the willies she loved every minute of it. It was hard to get her off. It was even more fun to watch her on the C. The C steers a whole lot easier and when she got on that she was off to the races. However, she refuses to back it up. She has that nervousness because of the seat being mounted basically behind the axles she is afraid of it rolling over backward.

You Bet! I let my wife drive anytime she wants.Dragging me backup the field when something brakes on another tractor, Or driving while I pick the last few bales off the ground,It works out great when you get stuck. The moral to this story is If they like driving them and having them around. Then they dont usally mind when you drag another one home. Specially if you say you bought it for her. JON

Yup;

Had wife drive the Cockshutt 30 while I pitched manure off a broke down spreader. She drove the TO-30 raking hay. And then the 706 while I drove the pull out tractor. I finally got smart and left her in the house for the most part.
