Well well well. Looks like I finally spent some time with my 300.
Just a update. This things been sitting in my shop since Feb 2002. Other stuff keeps coming up.
Last winter it was the Tranny rebuild on my 400 that took its place. Maybe just maybe I can get this thing done this winter.
Tinkering this summer I got the old pistons out and the sleeves.
Put in a used set of sleeves and pistons. ( cost reasons from the 400 tranny money pit.)
Got a new rear main oil seal in.
Oil pan replaced with new gasket.
Tonight I installed a new clutch w/ new pilot and throw out bearings.
Got the eingine 1/2 reinstalled on the tractor. Then I will get the head back on.
baby steps.

Wish I had known that you needed a set of sleeves and pistons. Just this summer I had to clean out what was left of my Dad's old repair shop inventory, and there were about 6-8 sets of M&W overhaul kits for earlier Farmalls. Sent a 18' foot trailer of parts / gaskets / stuff to an auction...would have been time and money ahead to have given everything away to someone that could have used it!

Dont know yet. I change my mind so often its hard to tell what I might do.
So far my 400 is the only one thats safe. I really love that tractor.
It seems that each trator does some thing better than the others.
My H runs my JD#5 mower real good and the trip loader is the cats meow for snow.

400 is my perfect rig for haybine and the baler.

I put the big loader on the 460 and it runs the brush hog real good.
Will see what the 300 can do with a Wide front and a 3pt on it.
And I still have a hankerin for a 706 or 656.

Looks like its coming along. You'll have it back together and have something to be proud of. Are you going to paint her up like your 460 when shes done. You really got me thinking about your paint jobs after you did your 460. Been up duck hunting this week and it was kind of slow I did it to the 300U. It's looking pretty nice for a working tractor. Should grab your gun and come up for a few days.

Yea I am going to paint her up. Might do the tin this weekend.
Also going to weld up a 3pt hitch for the 300. Might start on that too.
Put a after market one on the 460 so can use that for a patern.
