Need to get that shifter outa there. Parts diagram show caps over the pin. Any ideas how ya get those caps off?

tap around on the edge of one of the plugs, it should lift enough so you can get something sharp behind it.

use a large punch and punch through the expansion plug and push the pin out.

Well thats how I started with a 3/8" brass drift punch. It would not budge and I didn't want to break the casting. Thats when I checked and discovered the caps. So use a finer punch through the cap and then replace em?

yes. the expansion plugs are 5/8"
