I know they were advertised near the end of IH's exsistence but never personally have I seen one. I know where is a 7388 is working and looking good. How about it Guy Fay? I've heard some stories from some guys who worked at Rock Island but kind of hard to believe.

I have seen all 3 models (73-75-7788's) in person. The former owner of both 7388's is a good friend of mine.

These tractors were made by STEIGER in Fargo, ND. not at Farmall in Rock Island. They are sharp looking tractors.

Sooo! that explains why when I mentioned those tractors to these guys they would scratch their heads and say never saw one go down the line. The rumors going around according to them was that they were going to be made at Charles City Ia. Would you know how many were made of the 7588 and 7788? I know a few 73's went out because one made it to central Ohio.Would you know what V-8 they had in them? I hope it was a more improved version of the engine from the 4586 and 4786. Thanks guys.

Hey Dr. Evil, were you at Rock Island when they shutdown? The guy I talked to said he was one of the last ones there and that Case had a dealer come in from Nebraska and hauled all the partially built tractors and components off to he assumed his dealership.Do you recall any of that. We have a lot of the Farmall guys over here because we're at the truck plant and a lot of the guys needed to finish out to retirement.

Got in on this post late, but is that the big square nosed 4 wheeler that they only made two of and the same guy ended up with both of them? Seems like I saw an article in a magazine somewhere about them. Real monsters.

Yea, kinda looks like a 3588 on a large dose of steroids affectionately called the "anteater". From what one of the guys was saying on this post they were shipping drive train components from RI to Fargo, I wonder if it was the rearends from the 5488 or 5288. I think they made a few of the 74 and 72's but I would have to think there were only a couple each of the big ones. Boy, wouldn't that be a nice one to have in a collection?

there was a 7288 for sale in OH a couple years ago, never did look to see what motor was in it but it had the same rearend as the early magnums(maxxums? wahtever?) only 19 sold before the buyout. looked nice but 54,000 was a little more than i made in 3 years at the time.
