I've got a B that hasn't been run in 15 years. I think I've done everything I need to do to get it running. Gas, carb, points, condenser, plugs, wires. One piston has very little compression. spark is good. But it won't run. Should the impulse snap exactly on TDC? I can't move the mag enough to make it do that. Is there another way to adjust the timing?

Push the mag against the engine. Hand crank engine until compression pushes finger out of plug hole. Keep cranking until timing mark lines up with mark on flywheel. Slowly pull the mag toward you until the impulse snaps...then tighten up the mag. You should be timed. Do you have good spark?

I think I've got it in time now. But still no go. I do have spark. Too much I think. I get good fire on #1 when I'm supposed to. But also get small spark on #1 when other cylinders are firing. The time line on flywheel is almost at the very bottom when impulse trips on #1 compression stroke. I think this is right. Still got no compression on #3. Any ideas on that?

If the impulse won't trip then, you should pull the governor and check the timing of the governor gear.
