Farmall B prices in Indiana??

The really sweet little "47" B is still in the tractor shed where my father in law kept it almost every night since about 1950. He passed away some time ago and my mother in law has passed away last winter, the farm auction is over and all that is left is the little B, and possibly a few implements, still in the shed because no one in central Indiana wants to pay anything for it. We live too far away in the west to go back there and buy it from the family. My question is what would any of you guys think a "47" B would be worth out that a way in Indian? The paint is good, rubber is good and she fires up and still runs. Am I wrong to think that this little sweet heart is worth more than $800?

Please let me correct one thing here. The $800 price tag is not from ME or the family it is what was offered by the guy who bought the farm house, barn and land in the auction. I would like nothing more than to go out there and snatch it up for the family price, but I am stuck out here in Arapahoe County Colorado. I have plenty of room for the little B and a nice roof for it's head. I truly thank you all for responding to my post and respect your love for old iron (my love too). My wife, who used to drive the B as a child with here daddy, would love to have it too. We would truly love to keep it in the family. I am a pigs hair from going further into debt, borrowing a trailer and going out there and rescuing it for my wife (and me). My old iron is really a 1964 Ford 4000 H.D. Ind. but I love farmalls too.

I saw one sell at an auction in Cambridge City IN for $2300.00 with cultivators. If you are anywhere near East central Indiana I would be interested.

The last one I saw sell was a little rough with a front mounted blade that sold for - $800. I don't believe that B is that highly collectible. It sure is an unusual looking creature.

How long has this tractor been in your family? why would you wont to sell part of your history for as little as $800 if it is a 1940 it will be 100 in 2040 thats not far off now . i hope to live to 86 to see mine . their must be someone left that will keep her . heck 4 new tires for my truck are almost 800 {ps: for 800 i will trade 1 cow and 25 bails of hay deliver and pick up free}

I’m not sure how you can let a family heirloom like that go, not even for $2500.00 or more. I’m not sure where you live or how far it is to go get it, but if you have any place to keep that little gem, keep it! I have the 1940 B that my dad bought new, and my youngest son had his eyes on it before he was big enough to drive it. Yes, it runs, is in its working clothes and is far from a show tractor, but I will never sell it as long as I live and doubt that my son will either. Heirlooms don’t grow on trees, and they are something to pass on to the next generation if at all possible.

If you can’t see your way to keeping it yourself or in the family, I know there are several here on the board that will give that little sweetheart a good home.

My nickel's worth...

If it has any implements at all, you are about $1000.00 short on price. I paid $400.00 for one this summer in central, IL. It was a basket case,in prabaly 500 peices in boxes, needed a clutch, rings, gaskets, and then cleaning and painting. When I get down, no one will touch it for less than $2000.00. But, if you want only $800.00 I woudl make a trip to Indiana and take it home. You might regret not doing this in 5 years.

The last two I saw sold for $1900.00 and $2100.00 about a year ago. Both were straight and had good tires,but no paint left on them.( both ran good)I gave $1500.00 for mine last Feb.Good running with good tires and new paint.(poorly done)And drove 300 miles to get it.As for yours,I wouldn't take less than $1200.00. BUT,If you are still anywhere in the USA,You are not too far away to get it yourself and keep it in the family.John.

I live in northern In and don`t know where all these cheap tractors are at. Last year I paid $2000 for a 1940 B delivered. It was well above average, but not a class restoration and looked a long time to find it. I have paid $3300 to $4000 for all my super M`s. They are all tractors you would be proud to show but not perfect. If you have to do any mechanical or cosmetic work the cost goes up fast. I just haven`t found good tractors at give away prices.

As an ex central Indiana resident, I can believe the $800.00 figure, as I have seen many a nice B Farmall go for $800.00 or less. Some will depend on how nice, and what attachments.

If it is as nice as you say, it should be worth no less than $1600. But if you decide to let it go for $800, I will buy it sight unseen.

HOLY MOLY! Next time I get a good B,C,or H, I'm going to be calling you guys. I don't know where you all are looking, but $800.00 will still buy a very nice B here in central Illinois. The only thing around here that is WAY over priced comes in GREEN.

I live in Central Nebraska,and there are very few A's,B's or C's.I guess they were probably too small to begin with.The same auction that had the $2100.00 B had a $800.00 M in the same shape.LOL John.

They did not come with papers. All you can do is make sure the chassis serial is in the range of 47010-54411 and that the casting codes more or less match.
