Looking to sell father inlaw"s tractors as they are too old to farm and they lease out the land. One tractor is a 1962 Farmall 140. Has some implements. Tractor runs but could use a good paint job. Any idea what it might be worth? We"re located in southwestern Ontario.

BA: I doubt if the value range will be much different here than in NC as Bill stated. The reason I say this is you don't need to wait very long after you see an add, call and you will find it sold. I have seen these go for less than $2,500. but usually they will either have bad sheet metal, repaired castings or not running. E mail me, I may be interested.

BA, here in North Carolina an average condition 140 would go for around $2500 without fast-hitch and cultivators and up to $4500 with fast-hitch and cultivators. Super As through 140s are popular tractors in our area as most folks have small (>30 acre farms or mini-farms (2 - 5 acres). Up in your neck of the woods where farms are quite large, single row farmalls may have lower values.

Tractors are not like cars or other vehicles there are thousands of them still paying there way every day. From 1938 9N to farmall M's to the cub that predate the 140's. To get a idea of price check classified and , photo adds or even Ebay. It's my pet peeve when you have some thing and it's not new it dosen't have any value or can't used to work. Sorry

I hope I didn't offend you. I'm just looking for some guidance as to their reasonable value.
