Anyone know, did any Farmall H come out with a factory installed battery box that had the side removable so that the battery could be removed without having to lift it up to get it out of the battery box?

The battery boxes were only two piece. box and lid. The box did however have two sholder bolts that attached the bottom of the box to the frame of the tractor. These sholder bolts allowed the battery box to be slid out from under the gas tank so that the battery could be lifted out the top with out removing the box from the tractor.

No, the only thing removable was the top.

Thanks. I have a 46 H and was struggling Friday with taking the battery out. My Dad (87) says he had an H once, probably 60 years ago, that had the side of the box removable.

Yes, that would be handy. I`d like to know who made it, if in fact he isn`t remembering some other tractor.

Kind of crude, but I suppose you could use one from an A or B and attach by drilling holes in the bottom -- but I have not closely compared the two. You can use the same size battery for both.
