Can anyone tell me the correct pan bolt for the center hole on the front of the pan ( there are three bolts ). My center bolt doesn't want to tighten so I don't know if I have an incorrect bolt or perhaps the threads in the block are stripped.+.-/
Thanks

Sounds to me too like it's stripped. I think it is the same as the bolts along the side of the pan, the long ones go in on either side of the center one, front and rear.
I have been able to drill and Heli-Coil them before when they were found to be stripped. Like gene b said, they are a soft metal, so take it easy.

I would remove the pan as you have stripped the threads out of the lower half that makes up the seal on the crank it is pot metal type stuff and you should be able to get another one off a junk engine.

I don't remember what goes where, but my C parts book lists 14 5/16-18 by 3/4 long, and 4 5/16-18 by 1 1/2 long. You might get one that is 1/4 inch longer, if the one you can't tighten is stripped. Otherwise retap it with a 5/16 tap, or make it larger and use a helicoil.
