well, a couple of days ago i posted about my 766 i just picked up. the serial number that was on the paper work was 17959. i thought the dealer was wrong since the last number is 17900. well they weren't wrong. i finally found the tag on the transmission on the right side of the machine...thanks KB826! it reads as follows....

model: F766
serial: 2490191 UO 17959

i called the dealer and they found the original paper work for when they sold the tractor new and confirmed the serial number. WHAT THE HECK DO I HAVE????

Where did you pick this tractor up? There's at least three different potential answers.

And Hugh, the IH records aren't that bad, as long as you know which ones you're looking at. Have you ever worked with the original records before throwing stones?

Guy: A lifetime of farming and the current state of IH ag division as we knew it tells me all I need to know.

i bought the tractor at VALLEY FARM EQUIPMENT, a caseih dealer, formerly an international dealer in milbank SD. they sold the tractor new and it was a one owner machine. the owner decided it was time for some newer and bigger power is all. feel free to e-mail me with anything you know or can find out. thanks a bunch for responding.
