I've seen a lot of discussion here about what plugs to use in these old tractors. I needed new plugs for my C. It had Champion D-21 in it. Went to TSC and they only had two of the D-21 plugs. So...I started looking at cross references, etc and ended up with D-16 plugs. To me they look the same as the D-21. Put them in and the miss it had is gone. Runs like a top. Can anyone tell me the difference between the D-21 and D-16 plugs???

Best thing to do is pitch the Champion plugs altogether and put in AC's...all your problems will be over...Cmore

The D-21 is a couple heat ranges "hotter" than the D-16. If your C is in good tune, does not use much oil and you work it reasonably hard (no extended idling or light load operation) the D-16's will work fine. However if you find the tractor soon begins to miss again, swapping them for D-21's should take care of the problem.

Bob, thanks for the info! The C does not work very hard. I do try to get it good and warm whenever I run it. It does not use any oil, or smoke at all. The deposits on the plugs looked more like corrosion than a carbon deposit. I've had that tractor 4 years, and I don't think I ever changed the plugs, since it was running so well. If the plugs foul up again, I'll just change them out.
