Single wheel vs. NFE

Read all the comments about single wheel and my 49 H is of that configuration. It came out of the AZ cotton fields. I would also like to have the NFE. I like the look of the NFE (dual wheels) and would like to change out from time to time.

Is this as simple as locating one and mounting it in place of the single wheel assy? Asuume that NFE would have bearings packed etc. etc.

Thanks!

If you want a slick way to change that over, get a hold of a couple of screw jacks, and mount them to a couple of pieces of box tubing that can be bolted to the side rails of the tractor. Then just bolt them on the side rail, screw them up to hold the weight of the tractor and swap the front ends. I have a mounted picker that I used to mount on my M every fall and had to swap off the wide front and put the narrow one on. This made the job safe and a lot easier!

Hi ya Shep,

Yep, four little bolts and they swap right out. Stop bolt goes in the right front corner.

You guys down there must have a different climate; out here, if ya put one of those trikes on, the neighbors all point, shake their heads and snicker at ya. :>)

I was raised on Hs and Ms in the South and did not know wide fronts were available until I took trip through Midwest after I was grown.

Allan,

In the South, an H or M just doesn't look right with a wide front end. Dual tricycle or single front both "look right". IMHO

This rig is a first for me.
First NFE anything
First Red Power
First non-3pth

Just slowly working on it to get it running in time for spring. Hoping to run a trailer plow behind it and see what it can do.

Other rigs include
Oliver 1750 - PTO repair now
Oliver 550 Dsl - my dependable workhorse
AC G - not running
AC D10 - running
IH 140 - running

Oh, Oh,

I can sense an auction coming on. After you get used to this red one, you won't want anything to do with those "other" breeds. :>)

Pick me up here at my place on your way through Allan and I'll split the gas with you, as I see an auction coming up too. Your pump went out this morning, Harley
