MVC Pump on IH 856

We have to change MVC pump on our IH 856. We've never had to do this before and was wondering how to do it and things to look out for. the tractor does not have a torque. thanks Spencer

I'd get some advice from your Case-IH dealer first. There were some different thickness gaskets used, so hang on to your old gaskets to make sure you get the same ones back in there. There was a service bulletin giving a torque sequence for the bolts holding the MCV to the transmisson case. Make sure to get a copy of that, or you'll have leaks. When removing the MCV, don't remove the four bolts in the center, they hold the pump to the valve.

Spencer not much to it. There is a drain plug in the TA housing drain all the oil you can drain from that plug. There are two hydraulic fittings on the front side of the MCV and a number of hex cap screws to remove. When you remove the MCV look for a white plastic valve at the rear lower corner some times the oil will push it out and you miss it if you do you will not have steering after you go back together, make sure the suction oring and tube are good. I would change filter as well. Hope this helps
